"I am attracted to the power of excess in decorative art...primarily in Asian art. Often, in these expressions, every detail has meaning and was clearly added with much consideration. The observer's initial response to the work, nevertheless, is often a feeling of chaos, as he/she senses only the strength and the odd power of the overall piece. Through continued observation and introspection, however, the viewer can find a meaning in the work which is specific to his/her moment. This is the voyage and this the destination when the viewer and the art work together."
